【剧本】

（幕起，罗密欧与茂丘西奥及几位朋友漫步于广场）

茂丘西奥：Come, come, Romeo! Why so serious? You've been moping around like an old man with no teeth!

罗密欧：（叹气）Alas, my heart is heavy with thoughts of love.

茂丘西奥：Ah, love! The sweetest madness known to man. Tell me, who's the lucky lady?

罗密欧：Her name is Rosaline. She is fair and chaste, but refuses my advances.

茂丘西奥：Chaste? Bah! That's just her way of saying she's waiting for you to sweep her off her feet!

（此时提伯尔特带着几个侍从上场）

提伯尔特：What ho! What ho! Who dares disturb this sacred ground?

罗密欧：Pray tell, sir, what is it that you seek?

提伯尔特：Your head, Montague! For your kind has brought dishonor to our house.

罗密欧：I seek not conflict, Tybalt. Let us avoid bloodshed.

茂丘西奥：（拔剑）And I seek to defend my friend! Come on, then!

（茂丘西奥与提伯尔特开始决斗，双方侍从加入）

（朱丽叶的父亲凯普莱特登场）

凯普莱特：What is this ruckus? Cease this instant, or I shall call the watch!

（众人停止争斗，四散而去）
